Artwork: Highland Warrior
– “The furious winds came first. Ashes and trembling hands followed. Yet here we stand. Here we’ll be. To try again tomorrow.” –
This is the Real-Time Character created for my Mentorship project at Think Tank Training Centre Online. Based on the original concept from Terry Wei: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/eazlEX
I really wanted to try creating a convincing male character, so I decided to adapt the concept to match my goal.
Creation Process:
– Base in Zbrush + Marvelous Designer
– Final Sculpt in Zbrush
– Skin Projections and face retopo from Texturing XYZ using Wrap3D + handmade retopo
– Retopo done in Maya
– Haircards textures created in Fibershop
– Haircards placed using GS CurveTools for Maya
– UVs created in both RizomUV and Maya
– Bakes and Texturing in Substance Painter
– Lookdev, materials and rendering in Marmoset Toolbag
– Floor snow extracted from Megascans
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the infinite patience, advice and help from my mentor, Tomas Sackmann, thank you so much man! Also huge thanks to Luis Omar for all his extra feedback, tips, and wonderful positivity. Shoutout to Marcin Klicki too for guiding me through the first steps of the project.
