Artwork: Succession – Logan Roy(Brian Cox)
Here’s my latest personal work, a likeness study of Logan Roy from Succession, played by Brian Cox. I’m super happy that Succession won almost every award on this year’s Emmys. It’s one of my favorite TV shows of all time and I really felt the need to make a fanart. I’ve chosen to do Logan not just because he is phenomenal in the show, but because it was a good opportunity to practice sculpting an older person, having tons of fun creating all those wrinkles and make the skin feel believable.
Another thing that I wanted to try with this project was TexturingXYZ’s VFaces to create the skin details. I’m so impressed by the quality you can achieve with them and how easy are to use that I can’t wait to play with them more in the future. I used the albedo as a base, a great starting point, on which I handpainted a lot of details and color variations.
I sculpted everything in Zbrush, starting from a sphere, except the clothes that were done initially in Marvelous Designer and then finished in Zbrush. Textuting was done in Substance Painter, grooming in Xgen and the final images were rendered in Arnold and post-processed in Photoshop.
I was browsing for references for lighting and I stumbled upon some TIME magazine images, so I did a quick mockup of the character on the front cover of the TIME magazine just out of fun and I liked it, so I decided to keep it in the end.
Hope you like it
